Genus epidemicus

Variolinum 200 is the single medicine generally we use for prophylaxis in cases of Pox for very long time.

The one idea I use in such cases when a case of Active Pox comes to me is based on the idea of Genus Epidemicus .I use to take the symptoms of the case like fever symptoms ,types of rashes ,burning ,itching ,thirst etc drowsiness  or restlessness n then prescribe accordingly n I find it helpful for prophylaxis too.I hv not kept the track record but I think I should ,as I found that none of the cases reported back with disease symptoms but I hv instances where family members come back wid disease symptoms where I just cut down my labour by just routine prescription of Variolinum 200 .

Try it ,if it appeals you ..just a suggestion for sake of Homoeopathy.

The Soul of Remedies: Baryta Carbonica

Rajan Sankaran

Written by Rajan Sankaran

A remedy portrait of Baryta Carbonica by Dr. Rajan Sankaran, from his book The Soul of Remedies

Barium is a mineral belonging to the group IIA of the Periodic Table. The main feeling of remedies from this group is one of dependence, and Baryta carbonica is the most dependent of them all.  Baryta carbonica is totally dependent on others, almost like a cripple or an imbecile. “Delusion that he walks on his knees” and “Delusion that a beloved friend is sick and dying” show the crippled, dependent feeling of Baryta carbonica and his fear of losing this support

There is a feeling of total incapacity to take on responsibilities or do one’s own work. Baryta carbonica has anticipatory anxiety because of this feeling of incapacity. The patients are totally irresolute and depend completely on someone else to take decisions for them. This can work both ways. I have seen also that Baryta carbonica people can be very independent, even supportive of other people. They can be very responsible especially about family affairs: “Anxious about domestic affairs”, “Cares about domestic affairs”, “Anxiety about friends at home”, “Anxiety for others”. They can be extremely hard-working (industrious), very organized, conscientious, and they take pains to make sure of everything (carefulness). They consequently occupy quite responsible, dependable positions in their work and society. They are very methodical and reliable but lack imagination, art and creativity. Occasionally however, even such coped up Baryta can have bouts of irresolution and self-doubt. There is “Fear of strangers” which extends to the fear of facing any new situation and anything that is out of the routine, especially the kind of situation that forces them to make choices or take decisions. They can be resistant to any changes in their lives, for example they would try and avoid any changes in job or residence. They don’t like being noticed or brought into prominence, and would hesitate to wear anything that stands out, for example a shiny shoe. They are the last people to accept new fashions and are quite conservative in their way of dressing, living, etc. They avoid giving their views or opinions easily for fear of being criticized.

I have seen that Baryta carbonica patients like to confirm every single detail during a consultation, e.g. where and how to take the medicine, what are the food or other restrictions, etc., to the last detail, often provoking irritation and laughter from others. They are so dependent, it is childish. Phatak writes: “Children are late coming into usefulness, to take on their responsibilities and do their work”. The Baryta carbonica patient is very much afraid that he will lose (or something will happen to) those on whom he is dependent – seen in the delusion that “A beloved friend is sick and dying”.

I have mentioned in “The Spirit of Homoeopathy” a case of a 35 year old married woman who developed arthritic problems after the death of her neighbour, on whom she was dependent, and who was the only one in the neighbourhood who shared her mother-tongue. Due to this she lost the “crutch” which the neighbour provided, and since she could not actualize her delusion, that “Her legs are cut off” she developed a crippling arthritis which made her lean on others for support.

This great dependency on others, especially socially and financially, brings it close to Calcarea silicata. Calcarea silicata feels financially and socially dependent. The Baryta carbonica person feels both mentally (especially intellectually) and physically dependent like a disabled person.

Often the Baryta carbonica patients will give a history of being extremely shy in childhood and being unable to mix with others or make friends easily. They feel laughed at and criticized. There are many fears which are often childish (“Fear in children”). A small thing can make them extremely anxious: “Anxiety, trifles about”, “Delusion, she thinks every noise is a cry of fire and she trembles”, “Starts easily from noise and from fright”.  In many Baryta carbonica persons I have seen a kind of simplicity, naivety. They are rather credulous.

o Cares, domestic affairs, about.

o Childish.

o Strangers, presence of, aggravates.

o Delusion, as if beloved friend is sick and dying.

o Delusion, walks on his knees.

o Delusion, legs are cut off.

o Delusion, laughed at, mocked, being.

o Anxiety, others, about.

o Anxiety, trifles, about.

o Goes off alone and weeps as if she has no friends.

Physical symptoms:

o Chilly patient.

o Premature old age: hairfall, baldness, loss of memory, hypertension,

atherosclerosis at a young age.

o Desires: sweets.

o History of recurrent attacks of tonsillitis.

o May be emaciated.

o Hearing hard in old people.

Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is caused by tendonitis or swelling around the tendons on the outside edge of the elbow. It is called tennis elbow because it’s caused by an injury to elbow from movements used in racket games like tennis. As a result, often people suffering from lateral epicondylitis have it from playing tennis. However anyone can suffer from tennis elbow either from an injury to the outer elbow or from overuse of the arm and wrist. Some people have elbow pain as a result of arthritis (osteoarthritis). Arthritis is a different condition to tennis elbow but may make it more likely you suffer from tennis elbow. Tennis elbow is painful and often the tissues around the outer elbow become tender to touch and inflexible. The problem is mainly located at the bony part at the outer edge of your arm – called the lateral epicondyle. However it can also refer pain further up or down your arm. Tennis elbow is not the same as golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis.) Both have similar symptoms but golfers elbow is on the medial elbow and tennis elbow is on the outer elbow.
according to Wikepedia-‘-Although anti-inflammatories are a commonly prescribed treatment for tennis elbow, the evidence for their effect is usually anecdotal with only limited studies showing a benefit.Evidence is poor for an improvement from injections of any type, be it corticosteroids, botulinum toxin, prolotherapy or other substances.[32] Corticosteroid injection may be effective in the short term’
So ,we find that here allopathic medicines are not very mach effective in this case pain killers can subside the case but they dont cure it .
In Homoeopathy we have a no of patients being treated with the symptoms of tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis /medial epicondylitis(Golfer’s elbow)
They come after taking painkillers /sometimes painful corticosteroid injections without any permanent releif n sometimes recurrence of pain off n on or smtimes with pain n inflammation of the arm /forearm after taking the injections —
as it is the case related to tendons ,ligaments old injuries calcifications of old injuries –Ruta Calc Flour Acid Flour Calc phos may recover the case .
According to symptoms-first of all, movement increases the pain , pain radiating from one point to whole arm ,patient fears to touch the arm due to pain irritability (mental symptom) all become the guiding symptoms to select the medicine -based on totality of symptoms; n likewise medicines suchas Bryonia Rhustox Arnica Kalibich..Chamomilla or any medicine that suits according to symptoms might be selected n given will improve n finally recover the case ,
referring this case of tennis elbow is just to prove that it works ;THE HOMOEOPATHY works ; it is not any thing like jhaad foonk /tona totaka/ placebo effect –it is a well established science –that works on principles if you know the principles, if you follow the principles, if you choose according to symptoms not by the name of disease .It is an art -to take the symptoms, it is an art to prescribe the selected medicines in proper potency- according to the patient ;which is also something very important while treating a patient n a very peculiar job based on the physician’s experience .We will discuss it later on -have a nice day .

International Convention on Homeopathy 9-10th April 2016 at New Delhi, India

international homeopathic congress world homeopathy day

This year LMHI Indian Chapter has got the golden chance to Celebrate “WORLD HOMOEOPATHIC DAY” in India on 10th April, 2016. LMHI India Chapter in collaboration with AYUSH Ministry is organizing a TWO DAYS event in Delhi on 9 and 10th April, 2016. So kindly keep these dates free and be part of this grand event. The details of the event shall be updated very soon.
Let us come together, join hands and uplift Homoeopathy to newer Heights.

World Health Organisation Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014-23 states that universal health coverage (UHC) is only possible by integrating Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) services that  includes Homeopathy into the health care delivery. The purpose is to ensure that every individual has access to promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services of effective quality at an affordable cost to achieve the “highest attainable standard of health” outlined in WHO’s Constitution and in the concept of Health for All.

Presently, Homoeopathy is practiced in more than 80 countries in different form, officially recognized and system of medical specialty in Central and South America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico), Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc.) and Europe (Germany, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungry, Romania, Russia, United Kingdom etc.), Homoeopathy in India is recognized and integrated in the  National  health care delivery system. Government of India has established Ministry to AYUSH to give focused attention for the growth and development of CAM/TM. Thus India has a pluralistic health care to meet the ever-growing demand in health sector.

A highly commendable infrastructure of about 195 teaching institutions affiliated to universities, a regulatory council for maintenance of  standards of education and clinical practice; autonomous research council with 28 institutes; more than 250 thousand registered practitioners; about 7500 primary health centers, drug safety regulations, pharmacopoeia laboratory and GMP compliant drug manufacturing industry are the major  strength areas.  This model of integration is unique and ideal for replication by other countries for providing holistic and affordable health care along with respective traditional medicines in accordance with WHO Strategy of Traditional medicine.

Homoeopathic fraternity worldwide celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician, who discovered the principles of Homeopathy two centuries ago and developed it as a gentle healing system of medicine, as the  World Homoeopathic Day. During this day, the fraternity organizes various symposia, road shows, medical camps and conferences and memorial events to popularize the strength of Homoeopathy. In 2016., LMHI, the international professional body of Homeopaths, designated India to organize the World Homeopathy day.

The objectives of this convention is to deliberate on the existing scenario of Homeopathy in India and other countries, develop strategies for formulating national policies; strengthening the existing base of safety, quality and effectiveness, , high quality medical education, Interdisciplinary and international research co-operations, evidence based clinical practice and to promote appropriate integration of Homoeopathy into health care system in different countries to achieve UHC.

We have immense pleasure to extend cordial invitation to the Homoeopathic fraternity worldwide to participate with great enthusiasm.
