WORLD HOMOEOPATHIC DAY

International Convention on Homeopathy 9-10th April 2016 at New Delhi, India

international homeopathic congress world homeopathy day

This year LMHI Indian Chapter has got the golden chance to Celebrate “WORLD HOMOEOPATHIC DAY” in India on 10th April, 2016. LMHI India Chapter in collaboration with AYUSH Ministry is organizing a TWO DAYS event in Delhi on 9 and 10th April, 2016. So kindly keep these dates free and be part of this grand event. The details of the event shall be updated very soon.
Let us come together, join hands and uplift Homoeopathy to newer Heights.

World Health Organisation Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014-23 states that universal health coverage (UHC) is only possible by integrating Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) services that  includes Homeopathy into the health care delivery. The purpose is to ensure that every individual has access to promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services of effective quality at an affordable cost to achieve the “highest attainable standard of health” outlined in WHO’s Constitution and in the concept of Health for All.

Presently, Homoeopathy is practiced in more than 80 countries in different form, officially recognized and system of medical specialty in Central and South America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico), Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc.) and Europe (Germany, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungry, Romania, Russia, United Kingdom etc.), Homoeopathy in India is recognized and integrated in the  National  health care delivery system. Government of India has established Ministry to AYUSH to give focused attention for the growth and development of CAM/TM. Thus India has a pluralistic health care to meet the ever-growing demand in health sector.

A highly commendable infrastructure of about 195 teaching institutions affiliated to universities, a regulatory council for maintenance of  standards of education and clinical practice; autonomous research council with 28 institutes; more than 250 thousand registered practitioners; about 7500 primary health centers, drug safety regulations, pharmacopoeia laboratory and GMP compliant drug manufacturing industry are the major  strength areas.  This model of integration is unique and ideal for replication by other countries for providing holistic and affordable health care along with respective traditional medicines in accordance with WHO Strategy of Traditional medicine.

Homoeopathic fraternity worldwide celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician, who discovered the principles of Homeopathy two centuries ago and developed it as a gentle healing system of medicine, as the  World Homoeopathic Day. During this day, the fraternity organizes various symposia, road shows, medical camps and conferences and memorial events to popularize the strength of Homoeopathy. In 2016., LMHI, the international professional body of Homeopaths, designated India to organize the World Homeopathy day.

The objectives of this convention is to deliberate on the existing scenario of Homeopathy in India and other countries, develop strategies for formulating national policies; strengthening the existing base of safety, quality and effectiveness, , high quality medical education, Interdisciplinary and international research co-operations, evidence based clinical practice and to promote appropriate integration of Homoeopathy into health care system in different countries to achieve UHC.

We have immense pleasure to extend cordial invitation to the Homoeopathic fraternity worldwide to participate with great enthusiasm. Various International and national experts along with acclaimed supporters of Homoeopathy will be sharing their views on these subjects. The program will be webcasted for wider dissemination. A case of sciatica treated in 2015

One of my relatives,Mr.KC Tiwari, had been treated for severe pain in his right leg with numbness years before, by allopathy along with traction and physiotherapy.
One day in mid of 2015 he called me to consult as the pain was there again ,not the same way but now pain was in right leg ,starting from calves and going upwards as soon as he started walking. and after a while the pain made it impossible to walk .He had to stop ,take a rest ,then only he could go further .
he had consulted an allopath and started physiotherapy again but pain was in constant progress ,affecting his day to day life .He was advised for traction again .At this stage he consulted me .I advised him to take the homoeopathic medicine before going through the traction process as I find surgery and traction the last options to follow ,although it becomes neccessary sometimes.
The symptoms for prescription were
1–increasing pain with motion ,relieved by rest .
2–Stiffness in legs as if some thing tight would break
I prescribed Causticum 1M-single dose
Ruta-1M Once a week
and Bryonia 30 tds
and told him to inform after a week .A slight but unsatisfactory response was there but response was there so continuing Ruta 1M wk ly i raised the power of Bryonia to 1M. I told him to report every 15 days, which he thankfully did and which most of others forget conveniently(specially frds n relatives)–his pain was minimized and now he could walk easily but sometimes a sudden wave of pain comes and goes as he reported me when I met him after a month
Pain that comes suddenly and goes suddenly is a keynote symptom for Belladona which was given in 1M single dose along with Bryonia 10M single dose .Since then no reporting of pain i.e.from September15 till today .

Happy Birthday Dr Kent

Dr Kent  is a well known name in Homoeopathic world Today is his birthday Like Dr Hahnemann he also changed his line from allopathic system of treatment to Homoeopathic system
The reason was simple they saw the result and found it an effective line of treatment
Here is a short summary—
James Tyler Kent was born in Wood hull, New York, on March 31, 1849.  After completing two undergraduate degrees by the age of 21, Kent undertook two postgraduate courses, at the Eclectic Medical Institute of Cincinnati, Ohio.  At 26 years of age he set up practice as an eclectic physician in St Louis, Missouri and soon became a distinguished member of the Eclectic National Medical Association. He was a staunch Baptist. Kent’s first wife, Ellen, had died at 19 years of age, shortly after their marriage.  In 1928, Kent’s second wife, Lucy, became ill.She was treated by both orthodox and eclectic physicians, her condition continued to deteriorate and she was bedridden for months. Under ridicule and opposition from Kent, the homoeopathic physician, Dr Richard Phelan was called. Following his prescription, she made a dramatic recovery. As a result, Kent changed his allegiance from eclecticism to homoeopathy. He considered homoeopathy to be the only therapy that was guided by laws and principles and the only one to address the fundamental cause of illness.
He then became a careful student of Hahnemann’s Organon and other works of the new school, with result in his complete conversion to homoeopathy, his resignation from the Eclectic Medical Association in 1879 and his appointment to the chair of Anatomy in the Homoeopathic Medical College of Missouri, which he held from 1881 until 1883,
He was appointed professor of Materia Medica at the Homœopathic Medical College of St Louis, Missouri, from 1883 until 1888, became professor of Materia Medica and Dean of the Post-Graduates’ School of Homœopathy at the Hahnemann Medical College (Philadelphia) and occupied the chair of professor of Materia Medica at the Hering Medical College and Hospital, Chicago.

Questions commonly asked

The only problem is they do not tell you what is wrong and what treatment they are giving
All pills are similar and so the confusion in general minds of the public
Ans to the queztion is very si.ple jst stop judging it the allopathic way .You see ,it is a different way of treatment and should not be compared
See the results and they will speak for themselves
Yes ,the results speak themselves .Take for exp warts ,the most common problm for which the frst thing that comes in mind is homoeopathy   .An undesired growth which u r forced to carry wid ,on ur body if u dont want to go through operation . One day u go to a homoeopath and u get rid of that without any surgery tk the time at the most 6 months otherwise it also happens smtimes that it is gone after a single dose .It happens ,i hv seen sch cases so what other example does one need to beleive that it wrks. It is jst one example.
U hv raised two points
Why one general homoeopath does not write the name of medicine to the patient n Why all the pills look same

Continuing the topic –1-why most of us don’t give the name of the medicine prescribed–frst u hv to digest the power of single dose  of a homoeopathic medicine which is not very easily digestable for a patient ;that once given 4 to 6 globules or sm watery sbstance clled medicine will work n u hv to jst wait  for its effect, they need medicines two or three times a day jst to satisfy them .  If given the name they become impatient some times and repeat it not according to instructions but just to satisfy themselves “हमे लगा की और दवा ले लें तो जल्दी काम करेगी ”
2. Why all the pills look same
Answer is that the pills are same .These pills are only the medium of dispensing the medicine  ,not the medicine itself which is the liquid they pore in it . Sometimes the bigger tablts,  the biochemic medicines or smtimes the bitter liquid they give to you to tk wid water called the mother tincture.

Know the science before judging

Homoeopathy is a science and Homoeopathy is an art too–
Some make diagnosis for  disease
we make diagnosis of patient
Some take symptoms of disease
we take symptoms of patient
Sm need the lab findings  we need the Nature findings
Sm make a differential diagnosis
btween bronchitis asthma or pneumonia
we mk it btween Nux orPuls. Rhustox or Apis
We don’t judge you  how can you judge me. Unless you know me, understand me
Try it, practice it ,know it  .
Try to understand Homoeopathy dont judge it on your norms –we hv our own

Do you know what Homeopathy is ?

Homeopathy is bogus, harmful: Nobel laureate Venkatraman Ramakrishnan

it is painful to hear the statement from a noble laureate like Mr Venkatraman but it is not surprising as he is a man of science and the basic rule of science is to judge any thing by nothing else but by proofs and data .Being a homoeopath such things hurt me emotionally but it is a fact that we are still unable to defend the power of potentisation of medicines the method we use to enhance the power of our medicines ,to raise the potency ,the more the power the less the substance it is difficult to convince the people who beleive on material grounds only- but it works and it works miraculously. as I hv seen in my 20 yrs practice. how can u say it a placebo effect if it makes changes in your pathological findings ,of course u can not prove it in laboratories by simply doing experiments on tissues and cells as you do wid any other crude medicine ,as with any chemical or herb as in Ayurved Allopathy or any other pathy be cause Homoeopathy is something different from other pathies it doesnot work on cells and tissues it takes the patient as a whole It is difficult to prove the results in lab .When Homoeopathy emerged there were less means for experimentation these days our people are trying to connect it wid nano theory n avogadro principle but it is all too difficult as we dont have proper means ,no funds no labs ,no supports from Govrnments everything has to be done on personal level How is it possible ? A science Laureate of the level of Mr Venkatraman must go through the philosophy of homoeopathy before saying something so insulting about such a pathy it is a tested pathy
I usually see people talking about Arsenic it is a poision should not be given as medicine as it may harm the patient ,on the other hand they say that in any homoeopathic medicine no substance is left that works to cure the patient both the facts are contradictory –isn’t it? but the greatest fact is that it works Arsenic Album AND OTHER Homoeopathic medicines work when chosen and given on the basis of similarity of symptoms, according to principles of homoeopathy
Talking about Arsenic I hv found a very trusted symptom and which never failed me in my practice period is its thirst and restlessness with its night aggravation between 12 to 2 pm thirst for cold water frequent thirst for small quantities of water with restlessness and fear of deatjh all these symptoms you will find in case of Arsenic poisioning AND trust me according to the principle of homoeopathy whereever you find this group of symptoms use it and whatever may be the disease it will never fail you and homoeopathy It is my challange to Mr venkatraman and any other person who blames homoeopathy to be a fake and placebo effect pathy try it then judge it from results .
At the end , I must say how can one say such a thing in such a world where so many things which are so common are still unknown like GOD , like DEATH you hv to go ,where and how you dont know you can prove the result that one is not alive but how he died u can’t prove It is only the result you see -can you deny that the man is dead ? SO please see the result and if –IF you ,Mr Venkatraman ;are a real science man work on it then come to any conclusion because a science man is not allowed to be prejudiced

A case of Herpes zoster

fb_img_1458835795347.jpgHerpes zoster is a viral infection of the posterior root ganglia of a few segments of the spinal or cranial nerves. The infection is characterised by a very painful vesicular eruption along the course of the infected nerves. The total duration of the disease from onset to complete recovery is about 5 weeks.

This patient suffering from herpes zoster came for consultation. At the time of consultation he was suffering with severe burning pain and fever. The skin of the affected area was so sensitive that he was not able to keep clothes over it. The burning and pain was > in open air and also by fanning and putting col water over it. Apis M 0/1 was prescribed to be taken 6 hrly. for a week. At the end of the week when he came for follow up he was much relieved. I continued the same medicine in same potency for another week, of course, this time the dose was reduced to twice daily. At the end of second week there was no complaint left, except the shallow scars showing the healing of the skin eruptions. This case illustrates the fast recovery which occurs after a correctly prescribed homoeopathic medicine. A correct homoeopathic medicine does not give relief of the sufferings alone, but it cuts short the entire period of sufferings from the disease.

What homeopathy is not

(Summary: Misconstruction has surrounded homeopathy ever since its inception. Even after 200 years, homeopathy has remained the most misunderstood or ill-understood medical science ever; unfortunately, within the homeopathic profession as well. Diversity of view-points on the scope of treatment in the profession may no be a healthy sign for the growth of the science. Homeopathy is among the youngest of medical sciences calling for modern approach and extensive research. Some points related to misinterpretation about various facets of homeopathy, by the homeopaths, are raised and discussed.)

From dictionaries to encyclopedia to websites and books, it is almost explicitly explained ‘what is homeopathy’; however, it is equally important to discuss about what homeopathy is not.

Homeopathy is one of the most mysterious science streams, which is highly ill-understood, misunderstood, over-understood and hence there exists confusion in the minds of not only the lay-people (patients) but also the homeopaths themselves.

After having spent almost three decades in the study, learning, practicing, teaching, promotion and research in the field of homeopathy, I will rightfully share my thoughts and concerns; explaining what actually is not homeopathy.

Homeopathy is not a miracle medicine:

Many people believe that homeopathy is a miracle science, it can make magical cure in even most incurable diseases such as cancer, comatose stages, paralysis, etc. Actually, it is not. Homeopathy is simple a science based on certain laws (law of similars, comparable with that of vaccinations); with its own scope and limitations. There are rules, parameters and methods of application, which determine the scope of treatment.

Homeopathy is very effective but please do not expect magic or miracles.

Homeopathy is not a panacea:

One of the myths about homeopathy is that it is a cure for all, a panacea. It is not. Homeopathy enjoys all the joys of scope of its application, as well as the limitations of the science. No medical science can be a panacea.

Homeopathy can cure early stages of Rheumatoid arthritis but not the deformities, which go with it, as an example.

Homeopathy is not just the mind-based medicine:

One of the hardest concepts about homeopathy is that homeopathy is based largely on the understanding of the mind. The homeopathic fraternally is also not fully saved of this mis-belief. The study of the mental attitudes, the emotions and the mind-set is one of the important aspects of patient-study in homeopathy. However, it is not the sole determining factor.

Many homeopaths, especially in the western world, have a delusion that homeopathy is almost identical with mind-medicine. Homeopathy study encompasses, actually, the disease, the nature of pathology, the kind of immunological or hormonal changes, the physical components (perspiration, thermal preference, sleep, etc) and the mental sphere; all or most of them put together, depending on the case.

Homeopathy is more than psychosomatic:

Many homeopaths tend to relate disease or pathology in patients to some emotional parameter, almost always as cause and effect phenomenon. For example, diabetes due to stress in relationship or arthritis due to grief due to death of a loved one, etc. Psychosomatism is profoundly comprehended and valued in homeopathy; however, not necessarily as a causal phenomenon, but more as a part of the totality. There is no need to forcibly connect major emotions as the cause for development of every disease in all patients.

Homeopathy is not spiritual:

Since homeopathy is based on potentised (incredibly minute) dose of the physical substance, which cannot be measured with the current scientific methods, many have theorized and connected homeopathy with spirituality. It seems interesting to read some correlation between the two; however, it may be detrimental for the growth of homeopathy if taken away from science and towards spirituality. Comparing ‘vital force’ with ‘sole’ and miasms with ‘Buddhism’ will take homeopathy away from scientific growth.

Homeopathy is not-yet-fully-understood science, so, to some, it might look like some form of spirituality.

Homeopathy is not placebo therapy:

The skeptics have always criticized homeopathy as placebo therapy, due to lack of adequate research as per modern medicine guidelines. Since the results using homeopathic medicines are fairly reproducible, measurable and documentable, I would strongly say that homeopathy is far beyond placebo therapy.

Homeopathy is not faith healing:

Next label from skeptics is that homeopathy is nothing but faith healing. Homeopathy has worked million times for those who did not believe in it. Also, babies, domestic and wild animals, respond to homeopathy; proving homeopathy to be more than placebo therapy.

Cases of Hepatitis C, for example, where objective parameter such as drastic reduction in viral load after homeopathic medicines; is very hard to achieve with faith healing.

The skeptics should try out homeopathy, I suggest.

Homeopathy is not necessarily ‘single remedy’ magic:

The homeopathic professionals have been taught to be dogmatic about the use of ‘single remedy’ at a time, for all patients, all the time. It is very hard to break this fixity and evolve from this rigid shell; which even the father of homeopathy, Dr Hahnemann, could not outgrow in his time. The homeopaths tend to be either emotional when it comes to talking about the use of more remedies in a give case or shy away from discussing about it. The profession has yet to enter into a scientific discussion about so-called poly-pharmacy (multiple medicines).

No complex case be cured using a single remedy forever, barring only a few exceptions.

I deal with very severe pathologies such as Ulcerative colitis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Nephrotic Syndrome, etc. where it is not possible to administer a single remedy and wait. Every delay could be detrimental and not justified.

Homeopathy is not just ‘single dose’ therapy:

‘Single remedy, single dose’ are the magic phrases found in homeopathic textbooks; no more relevant in today’s medical practice. I have practiced the said phrases very religiously for over a decade and half; and have evolved from the dogmatism.

Sticking to the idea of single remedy and single dose could even lead to criminal intransigence.

Homeopathy is not dream-based treatment:

Some teachings have led to create a cloud of delusion amongst some homeopaths, which believe that the practice of homeopathy can be based on the understanding of patient’s dreams. Study of dreams is one of the twenty odd parameters in homeopathy; one of the most unreliable, indeed. Its importance should not be over emphasized.

Most treatments do not lead to suppression:

Over importance to the theory of suppression of diseases in homeopathy is misleading, vey often. Yes, use of immunosuppressive medicines such as corticosteroids, etc. leads to suppression of immune system, eventually taking the disease to deeper levels. This is very well understood in homeopathic philosophy.

However, extension of the concept of suppression, whereby some believe that anti-fever (paracetamol, Tylenol), pain killers, antibiotics, always lead to suppression; and must always be avoided. This is not true, in my opinion. This calls for scientific debate.

Homeopathy is not that slow:

The proponents of homeopathy claim that homeopathy is not slow. Actually, this is partly true and partly not. Homeopathy is not slow in chronic diseases. It relatively slow in acute diseases and could be very slow in the treatment of critical diseases.

Homeopathy is not very fast acting medicine:

Homeopathy is not very fast, either. Let me be honest. Homeopathy is neither very fast nor very slow. We need research to make homeopathy faster, I would say.

Homeopathy is not simply ‘constitutional medicine’:

Any contradiction to concept of the constitutional medicine is a potential trigger for third world war, amongst homeopaths at least. After twenty-five years of intense homeopathic practice, I believe that the ‘constitutional medicine’ is a hype created in the profession. It calls for a review and re-evaluation. It is a huge topic, cannot be discussed in length here.

In brief, I would say, all cases may not find a constitutional medicine and can still be treated with success.

Homeopathy is not suitable for all acute and critical diseases:

One school of thought is that homeopathy can cure each a every acute and critical disease such as cerebral malaria, bacterial meningitis, acute renal failure, severe pneumonia, acute myocardial infection (heart attack), and the like.

I strongly opine that it is not true. Homeopathy is a science having a limitation whereby severe acute and critical disease situations cannot be consistently treated with success. Please read the word ‘consistently’ with emphasis. Success with some cases, on some occasions, may not be enough. The results have to be comparable with the modern medicine; in order that we ethically claim success of homeopathy in severely acute and critical illnesses.

Every disease is not curable, even if the remedy is right

Many people and some homeopaths believe that if symptoms of the patient match with some medicines, every disease becomes curable. In other words, if the medicine selection is perfect, the cure is certain; irrespective of the nature of the disease. This is not true. The curability of any disease depends on several factors such as 1. Nature of the disease. For example, hepatitis (inflammation of liver) may be curable; while cirrhosis (scarring) of liver is not curable. 2. Extent of pathological change. For example, a fewer patches of Alopecia Areata (hair loss patches) are curable; but total hair loss (Alopecia totalis) is not curable. 3. Reversibility of the disease process and outcome. Inflammatory arthritis can be helped but Osteoarthritis (bony overgrowth) cannot be reversed. 4. Selection of the correct homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathy is not beyond the modern medical science:

The well-evolved medical knowledge acquired by medical science is very much required for the evolution of homeopathy. Homeopathy does not claim to be beyond the modern medical science. In fact, it is high time to understand that homeopathy and medical science are not distinctly different as far as the ‘medicine’ is concerned. They are not contrary but complementary and collaborating; belonging to the same medical science.

Homeopathy is not against the modern medicine:
